Installing Ledger Live on Desktop

Ledger Live desktop app is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Download the latest version exclusively from the official Ledger website to ensure authenticity and security.

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Accept privacy options and anonymous analytics voluntarily to help Ledger improve the software.

Once installed, launch the app and you will see a welcome screen with options to “Get Started” or “Restore Device.”

Connecting Your Ledger Hardware Wallet

Hardware Connection Connect your Ledger Nano X, Nano S Plus, or Ledger Stax device using the provided USB cable. For Nano X and Stax, Bluetooth is also supported for wireless management.

Genuine Check Ledger Live automatically verifies the authenticity of your device with a cryptographic handshake. Confirm the prompt on your device screen to proceed safely.

Keep your device screen active and confirm any actions physically on your Ledger to guarantee secure transaction approval.

Creating or Restoring Your Wallet

If you are new, select “Set up as new device” and follow the prompts to create your recovery phrase and PIN. If you already have a Trezor, select “Restore from recovery phrase” securely entering your seed phrase.

Always write your recovery phrase on the official recovery cards, never on a digital device or cloud service.

Adding Accounts and Managing Crypto

Go to the “Accounts” tab in Ledger Live to add cryptocurrency accounts supported by your device. Install blockchain apps and sync addresses securely.

Monitor balances, send and receive crypto transactions, and view transaction history all in one app.

Buying, Exchanging, and Staking Crypto Safely

Buy Crypto Purchase Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other tokens using partners integrated inside Ledger Live, like MoonPay or Simplex.

Ledger Live never asks for full recovery phrases; if prompted elsewhere, suspect phishing or hacking attempts.
